Our aim is to inspire curiosity by producing and presenting thought-provoking art made today that explores our locality, sense of self and the importance of communities through investigating current concerns that resonate internationally.
We set out to enrich the cultural lives of local residents of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, by providing them access to world-class, pioneering art, and creating opportunities for them to develop their own creative skills and thinking. We do this by offering a wide range of creative activities for people of all ages, background and abilities, to learn, come together and enjoy. We consider the philosophies and working methods of the artists in our exhibitions programme as the starting point for inspiration, and discussion in the community. All of our Learning programmes are led by practicing artists. These currently include Creative Open Days, Sunday Arts Club, Contemporary Elders, Things You Never Get Taught, and our School’s programme.
